Terms & Conditions
The terms on which we quote for and carry out work.
Last updated: 29 September 2026
These terms apply when Haggart Plumbers Ltd ("we", "our", "us") quotes for or carries out plumbing and heating work for you. Please read them before accepting a quote. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you accept rather than after.
Who We Are
Haggart Plumbers Ltd is registered in Scotland under company number SC732974, with our registered office at 30 Braid Rd, Edinburgh, EH10 6AD. You can reach us at info@haggartplumbers.com or on 0131 447 2656.
How a Contract Is Made
Nothing on this website is an offer to enter a contract. Prices, descriptions and timescales shown here are general information.
A contract is made when you accept a written quote from us and we confirm it. What that quote says about the work, the price and the timing takes precedence over anything on this website. Where the quote and these terms conflict, the quote wins.
Quotes and Surveys
Our quotes are free and carry no obligation. You are under no duty to accept one, and we will not chase you if you do not.
For most jobs we will want to see the work before quoting, so that the price reflects what is actually there rather than a guess. A quote is based on what was visible and known at the time of that survey.
A quote is valid for 30 days from the date we issue it. After that we may need to requote, because the cost of parts and the condition of what we are working on can both change. If your quote has expired, tell us and we will confirm whether the price still stands.
Prices and Payment
The price in your accepted quote is the price for the work described in it. Payment terms, including any deposit and when the balance falls due, are set out in the quote or invoice.
Where we quote a fixed price for a job, that price covers the parts and labour described. It does not cover work we could not have known about, which is dealt with below.
Work We Find Along the Way
Plumbing and heating work sometimes uncovers problems that were not visible when we quoted: pipework in worse condition than it looked, a fault behind a wall, or an installation that does not meet current requirements.
If that happens, we will stop, tell you what we have found, and explain what it means for the price and the timing. We will not carry out additional chargeable work without your agreement. You can tell us to go ahead, to do only part of it, or to stop.
Access and Your Property
So that we can do the work, we ask that you give us access at the agreed times, tell us about anything relevant that we would not otherwise know, such as the position of hidden pipes or cables, and keep pets and children away from the working area.
We will take reasonable care in your home and leave the working area clean. Some work unavoidably disturbs decoration, for example lifting floorboards or cutting into a wall. Making good to that extent is included; redecoration is not, unless the quote says otherwise.
Gas Work and Safety
Gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers, No. 936063, and to the requirements in force at the time.
If we find something that is immediately dangerous, we are required to act on it. That can mean disconnecting an appliance or capping a supply. We will always explain what we have found and why.
Our Guarantee
We guarantee our workmanship. The guarantee period for your job is stated in your written quote. If something we have done fails within that period, tell us and we will put it right at no charge.
The guarantee covers our work. It does not cover fair wear and tear, damage caused by someone else working on the same system afterwards, misuse, or a failure caused by a separate part of the system that we did not install or were not asked to work on.
Manufacturer Warranties
Parts and appliances carry their own manufacturer warranty, which is separate from our workmanship guarantee.
We are an accredited Vaillant Advanced Installer, and Vaillant boilers we install carry an extended seven year manufacturer warranty. Manufacturer warranties usually require the appliance to be serviced annually, so check what yours asks for and keep the records.
Cancelling the Work
If you are a consumer and you agreed the work at your home, or at a distance rather than face to face, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the contract being made, without giving a reason.
To cancel, tell us by email, phone or post using the details on this page. A clear statement that you want to cancel is enough.
If you asked us to begin work within those 14 days and then cancel, you can still cancel, but you will need to pay for the work already carried out and any materials already supplied, in proportion to what was agreed.
If you need to move a booked appointment, tell us as early as you reasonably can and we will rearrange it.
If Something Goes Wrong
Tell us. Email info@haggartplumbers.com or call 0131 447 2656 and we will look into it and come back to you.
We would always rather hear about a problem early and fix it than have you live with it.
Our Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, or for a pre-existing fault in your property that we were not engaged to deal with.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
Your Legal Rights
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. As a consumer you are entitled under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to have services carried out with reasonable care and skill, and to have goods supplied that are of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose.
Your Information
How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your job are the ones in force when you accepted your quote.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any dispute may be brought before the Scottish courts.
